As I've received a second review copy of Candace Bushnell's new book One Fifth Avenue, here's your chance to win. Leave a comment saying what you appreciate most about New York City. I'll draw the winner's name at noon Paris time on Saturday, Nov. 29th. Good luck!

I like the bookstores and the pretzels. I am going there Dec 12th weekend, so short but money is tight. I keep ordering the books on your sidebar. Amazon is going to be my financial ruin.

What I appreciate most about NY City is that it has a meaning ''the clear visible presence of a woman's''.
So I love NYC.

Gill, I think you will love New York. Of course you won't have much time there, but it is hoped your appetite will be whetted for more visits! Central Park is lovely, but best viewed in the fall or spring. Am looking forward to hitting some of the city's highlights with you!

Maia, as a former New York resident, I, too, appreciate the walking everywhere aspect of the city. I miss the city's myriad attractions and am always happy for any opportunity to spend time there.

Since I lived there for six years, I can answer this in retrospect...I love the fact that New York is a walking city. I love to walk. There is nowhere you can't walk to in Manhattan, and while walking, it is an unsleeping, ever-changing feast for the eyes. Oh, and the windows at ABC carpet & home. I appreciate those.

I'm hazarding a guess, that besides seeing Tiffany's, Rockefeller Center and YOU! Central Park will come a close second. I'm hoping to love it, and I think I will!
So count me out of the drawing, for in all fairness I can't answer this yet!
I'll know in six days.
xoxo

I am wondering why my picture pops up each time I leave a comment. Hmm.. I hope you don't mind seeing my face this much. lol
Harlem... seeing all the history, the brownstones on Malcolm X blvd, crossing the street to see the mosque, then settling into Sylvia's soul food restaurant. ; )

What I really want it to know who to get on the list so that I can get advanced copies of my own. I love that idea!

I love it that my oldest daughter is there, and that is is her second home. I love it that SHE loves it, and is embracing her life, with all its challenges and questions, there.

I appreciate that when I'm hyped and hyperventilating from running from one great location to the next -- I can count on a street vendor to give me an ethnic, delicious and cheap meal on many a street corner...this way I can keep going without wasting any time or breaking the bank! I LOVE that! Thank God for those aluminum, heated carts and the people who run them every day!

I love all the "differentness" of NYC! It feels like you've got the whole world at your fingertips. So much to see and so much to do, and so many people to do it with!

oh that question is easy. i honestly (don't laugh now) have gone to New York only once and i was mesmerized by central park. i know, i know not terribly original. but the big deal was all the people everywhere and how interesting they all seemed to me. exotic even! but i think they really were interesting and that i was not imagining it. being 90 and playing chess in the cold, singing in your underwear, running the New York marathon with thousands of strangers... it was everything i had ever imagined it to be and more!
XOX love to you and thanks for your visits while i was away!

Give my regards to Broadway! That's what I appreciate most -- good theatre, excellent musicals, marquees, splendid old theatres. Gotta dance!
