Mai / May / Mayo
Guillame Apollinaire's poem about May, handwritten in French at a spring exhibition at Les Passages in Boulogne-Billancourt.
Endless blue skies and an historic church set behind a town hall, currently under renovation near Le Bon Marche, Paris.
Grey skies more typical of spring in Paris. Construction continues on an underground parking garage and park in my neighbourhood. The work began in 2006 and is scheduled for completion later this year.
Bright pink hortensia softens the urban environment on Ile Saint Louis.
Pimentos - red and green - at a local supermarket.
A brass-and-enamel bed frame at a recent brocante. Remember the old Bob Dylan song, "Lay lady, lay - lay across my big brass bed?"
A vintage foosball game for sale at a brocante. An excellent antiquites brocante at Place de Bastille, Paris begins later this week.
Filling station replicas, Danish modern chairs and a mannequin.
Hats and theatre props. And speaking of props, Europeans and Americans alike are amused by Hillary Clinton's new "guns" mailing.
Plus, that little gas tax holiday stunt Clinton keeps pushing - even though economists oppose it and both she and her husband were against it in 2000 - has earned her the rebuke of a senior member of Congress. An excerpt of George Miller's statement: "“The call by Sens. Clinton and McCain to temporarily suspend the federal tax on gasoline is a short-sighted stunt that will hurt consumers and do nothing to reduce the price of gas. American consumers and our economy need a real solution to the energy crisis, not an empty trick. You can run cars on a lot of different fuels, but snake oil isn’t one of them."

Great photos of color! Blue skies/grey skies - hubby and I ate lunch out on a patio today (my first uncontagious day out - I had soup) and hubby said he was going to pretend he was back in Paris. I said it couldn't be Paris because the skies were too blue. Hehe. Although, we did have some lovely weather during our stay but gray seems to be the "native color".

The hydrangeas make me so happy.

Is hortensia another word for hydrangea (like a French one?) I don't know, but they are knock-out gorgeous. I love taking photos of peppers. They don't ever move and they're always so colorful! Another lovely journey with you!

All the images...wonderful, I'd love to wander around here. I'm reading a comment above...foosball means baby-foot...I know the game as foosball but had no idea that's what it meant.

Still enjoying the pictures. I don't comment everyday, but I look often. Makes me miss Paris so much. It's been 3 years since I've gone. I'm due for a reunion. :)

Great pix as usual! The gas thing is ridiculous and only in the news because summer is arriving. Where was this idea when people could not afford to heat their homes in the winter? They are all pandering to the people who have cars and want to pay less for leisure. This does not help people that rely on vehicles for business.

Which is the most wonderful? Ah! hard to say. What an eye candy feast you've given us for spring.

The pink hydrangea colour is so vibrant - I've never seen them that bright before!

Again, gorgeous photos and how nice to see the sunshine [sigh]. I'm wearing the brown shell bracelet I bought at the shop on Ile Saint Louis but I must say that my Starbuck's salad can't compare to the fresh salade at the cafe. bisous.

BTW, did you catch Obama on Meet The Press yesterday? Very, very good, I thought. Very good. I wish more people would what that show, it is soooo much better to see people really get to talk and not just fight back and forth or be all bluster.

Love the pictures, Tara!
You reminded me of one my my favorite French words--baby-foot, what they call foosball! I was so puzzled the first time I saw that written on a placard in front of a cafe.
Such pretty pimentos!
