Time out in Paris

Maryam of My Marrakesh at Brasserie Lipp on Blvd. St. Germain, Paris. Originally opened in the late 19th-century, Brasserie Lipp is often referred to as the quintessential Paris brasserie. It is a Left Bank favourite of politicians and newsmakers.
This week I had the good fortune of meeting Maryam of My Marrakesh at the Brasserie Lipp in St.-Germain-des-Pres. Time flew on a wing as we shared some rather intriguing stories. We talked about our work, our families and of course, blogging. For readers already familiar with Maryam’s blog, she is brilliant, enthusiastic, relaxed and witty, just as one might expect from her lyrical writing. And she's gorgeous, stylish and simply can't take a bad photograph.
Maryam's living a charmed life in Morocco, which is not without its challenges, both expected and unexpected. Somehow she manages to juggle a family, a full-time job, writing her blog and a non-fiction book. And then there's the small matter of building a guest house on a choice patch of land that just happens to have an olive grove. Maryam doesn't do anything by half-measures. I suspect we'll be reading much more in future about her myriad accomplishments.
