Dodging the raindrops
early morning search for things
that tug one's heartstrings
Another successful foray to the Puces de Vanves at Avenue Marc Sangnier, Porte de Vanves resulted in several yummy finds: assorted petite Bonne Annee and Bonne Fete cards (above), buttons (below), hand-beaded millinery flowers, a set of 12 silver-plate forks and two Napoleon III hand-carved scenes of Christ's crucifixion. Alas the photographs don't do the latter justice. I've posted them in black and white in an attempt to show detail.

Fascinating. Although I like to collect unusual things, I didn't become interested in antiques until reading blogs, like yours. I'm glad you're enjoying your "yummy" finds. :)

Yummy, indeed. I especially love the buttons and the forks (great table cloth under the forks too). Ah, to lose oneself in a Paris market!

Hunting for treasures on a rainy day is something I haven't done in awhile — now I miss it!
These photos are really delectable. I can see the meticulous hand work in all of these items. It's just beautiful that so many artisans walk among us and that they leave bits of themselves behind.

Lovely collection of little treasures! That is one of my favorite markets! It is incredible isn't it?! Lucky you to live nearby!

Wow, that's great stuff. I recognize the button cards. My mother had a button box with some old buttons from those companies in them. The "box" was actually a round tin in which a dust mop head had originally been. My sister has it and the sewing machine, a Singer from bout 1952. What a great machine . . .the old black kind with the gold time. Not a fleck of gold gone despite the 1,000's of yards of material sewn on it.

You have once again found treasures that created an inhale of breath...each and every one. It is my dream to walk through a Paris flea market and feel that inhale upon spotting treasure after treasure in person. You, my friend, have a knack for it. so are you doing some art?
XOXO

Nice stuff...but I always wonder and never ask.... do you live in a bottomless, sideless apartment?
Just how/where do you find the room for all of your treasures?
Tara responds:
Scott, thank you. Many of these "treasures" are later sold or given away as presents or used in art or sewing projects (either mine or my daughter's). For everything that comes in, another goes out. I have recently given away a serious amount of stuff, including two pieces of furniture.
